Turning Digital Cleanup into Real-World Impact
At Nordic Pharma, we continue to look for meaningful ways to connect our day-to-day work with a broader impact. Our Digital Cleanup Day on 20 March 2026 was one of those moments where a collective internal effort translated into tangible support beyond the company.
The initiative invited teams across the organisation to review and delete unnecessary data, from outdated documents to unused files and emails. While going through years of accumulated information required time and coordination, it proved to be a worthwhile effort. The more data that was removed, the greater the contribution made to Orbis International.
This year, our collective efforts supported Orbis’ priority project in Southwest Ethiopia, where an estimated 3.3 million people currently lack access to a functioning eye care system. The funds raised will help bring treatment closer to rural communities, prevent avoidable sight loss, support children in staying in school, and enable adults to continue providing for their families.
In the lead-up to the initiative, teams aligned on shared files and identified what could be safely deleted, helping to ensure a smooth and coordinated approach across functions while keeping essential information intact.
Alongside the social contribution, the initiative also reinforced more responsible digital practices. Reducing unnecessary data helps limit the energy and infrastructure required to store it, contributing to a lower digital footprint across the organisation.
As Helene Wilson, Head of HR, Communication & Sustainability reflected, “This initiative shows that sustainability can be part of how we work every day. By reducing our digital footprint, we didn’t just improve how we operate, we created a clear link between what we do and the impact we can make. The more we achieved together, the more we could contribute to Orbis and the life-changing work they do. Their focus on building long-term access to quality eye care really resonates with our company values and reflects the kind of impact we want to support.”
This initiative demonstrates how, across a global organisation, even everyday actions can be amplified through collective purpose, creating meaningful impact that extends beyond our operations and into the communities we support.
